Raccoon sighting in Siglap!

I went to Mel's apartment after my walk today to get some DVDs from her and we saw a raccoon!

The animal climbed up a gate, jumped to a pillar more than its body length away, strutted across the wall over our heads and disappeared up a tree.

"Look at that cat!" I exclaimed when I saw it climbing up the gate.

"That is so not a cat loh!" replied Meliza. "THAT is a ferret!"

I went back home, googled for ferrets and realised that it is not a ferret but a freaking raccoon!

It looked something like this. Cute and cuddly!

The sky was clear and I also got a mini astronomy lesson from Mel.

The Orions Belt looks like this, and we also saw what looked like to be the Southern Cross.
We saw a bright orange star, not blinking or moving, but according to Mel, we are not supposed to be able to differentiate star colours with our naked eye.
Maybe its an UFO woah! Heh Heh!!!

Yummy food and sword bearers

Finally, all the wedding dinners I'm invited to are over for the year!

Yesterday was Leanne and David's wedding at the Mandarin Oriental, today was Miaoxin and Ivan's wedding at Sheraton Towers.

I was totally wowed by both weddings!

Leanne and David's one was excellently planned. The service and ambiance at the Mandarin Oriental were absolutely first-class, the servers were extremely attentive and took great care of us. David had spent great effort trying and choosing the dishes on the menu so the food was totally innovative and delicious! The wine was good too! I've never had so many glasses of white wine in a sitting before! Woke up with a slight hangover the next day! :P

As for Miaoxin and Ivan's wedding, Ivan is with the navy, so they had sword bearers for their walk-in! It was sooo cool and smart! Their toasting went really well thanks to the big number of navy officers in attendance!

Dirty office Politics

Some people in my workplace makes me feel like throwing up.

These two days have been quite unbearable. We had meetings after meetings scheduled one after another, which gave me plenty of opportunities to watch bootlickers , backstabbers and liars in action. Therefore, I have to say that I now understand these two groups of despicable fellows better.

Bootlickers
The big number of booklickers in my school means that there are plenty of big egos to be stroked. I think that these big egos are ultra deprived and desperate of friends and supporters and therefore can stand the irritating bootlickers. The bootlickers in turn are incompetent, this is why they have to resort to using low-down methods instead of proving their worth.

Backstabbers
Backstabbers have no balls. Wanna talk bad about someone do it infront of the person lah!
I've seen this disgusting sickening despicable irksome fellow complaining about a group of people to a just-as-disgusting higher-up, and then the group of people entered the room suddenly and his tone changed 180 degrees and was all friendly and joking with them.

That same backstabber raised his voice at me later on when I defended a person he was badmouthing. It took all of my self control to clamp my mouth shut. No point fighting for righteousness in front of a group of despicable people.

The dirty scheming arseholes...

Staff Retreat 2007

For our staff retreat this year, we went for the duck tour, hippo tour and had lunch at The Legends! We were supposed to go on the DHL balloon too but it was cancelled due to bad weather.

The duck and hippo tours were a lot more fun than I had expected! We had a super funny and witty guide (who was an ex-sports commentator for TCS) on the duck tour who made us laugh all the way with his jokes. The best part was when he made fun of our Principal who was in the next boat! Our guide for the hippo tour was less interesting so I wasn't listening to him at all. It was nice sitting on the open upper deck going through Little India, Kampong Glam and Chinatown.

Yvonne and me on the hippo bus.

Lunch was at The Legends, Fort Canning, which was beautiful. It rained so we had to have our Amazing Race indoors. I was in Gerald's group and we cheated 3 out of 4 stations! Haha! It was really funny!! We didn't get into the top 3 positions however, cos we wasted too much time starting out.
Here are some pictures I took!

My 26th Birthday

I had a truly blessed day!

I had a surprise the moment I got up. My sister had tied balloons to the piano and they formed the words 'happy birthday'. It was really sweet of her!

It is also my school's Annual Prize Giving day today and my Angklung kids performed. I received comments from my colleagues that they did a good job. As their teacher-in-charge, I feel so proud of them!

Later on, Elvenia treated me high-tea at Goodwood Park Hotel. The food was good but we were too full to eat much. I forgot to take a picture with her there. :(

And then for dinner, I met up with my cell group! They are really one big bunch of naughty, funny and creative people. Jiahui was in charge of meeting me and bluffing me that she's the only one free to celebrate my birthday with me. And just then I walked past the restaurant, recognised Wendy's hair, Merf's back view, and four people had their menus high up covering their faces, and asked "Then who are all those people?" Totally hilarious!

And they just had to sabotage me! They made me put on a mask that Kaixin created and take pictures. Apparently I got off lightly already. They had originally wanted me to walk around the restaurant!!! Arghh!!!

I got two presents from them, A NDS game from the cellgroup, and book 6 of the wheel of time from Wendy, Eliz, Nicole, Kaixin, Ben, Eunice, Mingkai, Jiahui and Merf. Thank you bearymuch people!!!!!!!

Sickening people I've to work with

Hai.. I lost my temper in school again today.

I was about to go to class after my free period when the office staff paged for me and asked me where the extra copies for the P3 English Paper were.

Ok let me explain a little. We teachers have to set papers for the exams so after the Principal vets and endorses our paper, we send it for printing. We have a photocopying lady to do the printing. After printing for the whole level, the setter will count the exact copies for each class and store them away to be used for the exam. There will always be extra copies which will be stored in the same cupboard. These extra copies are for new pupils who need to take our exams to be placed in the correct level the next year.

So a new student came along today and the office staff couldn't find the extra copies and immediately pointed the finger at me because I am the setter. The photocopying lady even dared to say that I printed the paper myself. Like DUH, as if I am so bored that I want to print a 20 pages paper for 150 students. Obviously they were misplaced or taken by someone, most likely a P3 teacher when he/she gave out the papers for the exam. And then they demanded me to give them a copy right away.

Luckily I had my thumbdrive with me. If not, what will happen? Shouldn't the office be more organised and file the extras properly to be used when needed instead of only rummaging through the cupboard when a new student pops in?

Wah lau... really hate their attitude. They just don't know how to admit their mistakes and ask nicely for favours. Wished I could say "NO. I'm not going to print it out for you unless you ask nicely."

Magical Movies Galore~!

I just got home not too long ago from 'Stardust'. It's ending is really quite absurd, but overall, I still think its a good movie. Well worth my 9 bucks! The movie is totally hilarious, loved the ghosts of the dead princes!

I do SOOOOOo LOVE fantasy books and movies!
Fantasy movies coming up after Stardust:

1) Beowulf (warriors, demons and magic)
2) Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium (a magical toystore)
3) The Golden Compass (erm... not sure about the story but there's a little girl, a polar bear, a golden compass AND nicole kidman!)

Another 3 more weeks~

Come the last week of November, also the second week of the school hols, I'll the happiest person on earth.

My official 'leave' from work is from the 26th of Nov to the 26th of December. ONE WHOLE MONTH to enjoy myself to the fullest! Whee~

My dearest Siglap-er buddy/childhood friend/fellow food-lover/one of the NYs (its a long story)/EY power woman auditor MELIZA LOONY TUNES is gonna be back in Singapore!!! I'm gonna pick her up at the airport on the 25th Nov at 9.40pm, and we're going to go for supper! She's supposedly coming back to study for the exam for some cert but who cares~, she still gotta entertain me!

My korean trip is another thing to look forward to! It's gonna be an ultra fun (and naggy) holiday, with my dear (bossy) GML as a travel mate. Actually I am feeling a little nervous now thinking of the time she's gonna spend taking pictures...

Meanwhile, I shall stop grumbling about my work load, try to relax, and count down the days to the 23 of November!

The won't-leave-me-alone Obasans

I've been absolutely edgy because of stress. These two weeks have been extremely busy for me as all the events I'm in charge of all happen together, and I have two more weeks to go before I can take a break.

And my school's obasans just won't leave me alone! They nag and bug me for small minor things... I can take this when I'm relaxed and free but when I'm edgy, my tolerance level is ZERO. Hai...

Why must the elderly talk so much? When I am frantically trying to finish my work without mistakes, they come to my table, complain and grumble about life, and go on and on and on... When I give them one word replies which I thought is enough to show I'm not interested in having a conversation, they start grabbing and tugging my arm for attention. Wah.. Really... I cannot take it ah!

Eliz's Beautiful Wedding~

It was Eliz's big day yesterday! I had the honour of being one of her 'sisters'!
No doubt it was tiring but we really had a fantastic and fun time!

Here are some pics that Ben sent to me. I think Eliz looked really pretty that day, the photos don't do her justice!

After the matrimony
The girls in N333 (plus little Eugene) entertaining ourselves by taking pictures while waiting to take a picture with Thow Wee and Eliz.

N333 with the happy couple!

Note:
I was originally standing on the stage then Merf chased me down to the floor because he complained I was too tall! Bah!

Eliz throwing the flower bouquet

It was hilarious, the single girls had to be forced to go to the front, and then everyone avoided the bouquet! Kaixin caught it because Nicole ran off! LOL

눈의 여왕 disappointment

HAha I've been on MC for two days... Small problem, caught a viral flu.

I was actually grateful for being able to stay home, I'll be able to have more time to complete some admin work.

However I spent the entire day yesterday mugging 'The Snow Queen', which I bought in JB a month ago! Started watching from about 11am to 2am the next day. One entire day gone! Feeling so guilty now.

This is the first time in a long while I've been disappointed by a Korean drama. I bought this serial because my Korean No. 1 fave, Hyun Bin, is the male lead. What should I say about this serial? Well the plot doesn't make much sense, the acting is bad, the characters are tearing and crying all the time, the soundtrack makes me feel like throwing up my potato chips, my Hyun Bin looks scruffy and glassy-eyed all the time... Hai...

An interesting fact about this movie, Hyun Bin's character is 25 and his love interest is 22. I checked the internet and found out that the female lead, Sung Yu Ri, is actually one year older than Hyun Bin!

Got a couple of pics today, from our BBQ @ Jennifer's house. MJ used photoshop on them. Unfortunately we didn't take a pic of Jennifer's teenage son, who is sooooo cute!

My first crush is getting married

As I got off the cab just now, I realised that my neighbour, Jack, is getting married. Ribbons adorned his red car.

I'm feeling just abit of regret and loss now.

Jack is my first crush, and it was a BIG one. He stays two houses away from me.
I had the crush on him when I was in Cedar Girls and he was in ACJC.
And then one fine day while walking our dogs, we walked past each other and he said hi to me. (There's another story behind this, he saw me rescuing a sparrow.) But I was so surprised and flustered then, didn't know how to react, and IGNORED him. He never tried to talk to me since then.

I totally regretted ignoring him since that day itself but I didn't know how to remedy it. And by the time I grew up and stopped being so shy, it's too late. We have been treating each other as air for years.

He went into NUS medicine and became a doctor. I think his gf/wife-to-be is a doctor too.

Hai... I'll always wonder how things would turn out if I wasn't so shy then? There's always the possibility we could have been great friends and grow up together. How different things could be....

Arnolds fried chicken for lunch

I'm writing this post in school, am waiting for my Arnolds chicken to arrive and I refuse to do any more work till I have my lunch.

I'm totally spoiling my diet with the fried chicken and its all my colleague Gerald's fault! haha...

Something funny happened after school a while ago.
My colleague Bel asked my boy ,Arjan, why it is wrong to swing his wallet and hit his friend
I was standing beside her, watching the show.

Arjan: Pain...
Bel: Somemore?
Arjan: Dangerous...
Bel: uh huh?
Arjan: Can kill....
Me: *laughs loudly*

Sooo cute...

Celine's Birthday Celebration by N333

To celebrate Celine's big day, N333 went to this KTV lounge opposite Bugis's breadtalk. I didn't take note of the name.

Well what's interesting about this lounge is that there are smoke and laser light buttons that you can press for special effects. I didn't care too much for these effects however. The smoke really smelt like smoke which means its smelly, and the laser flashes gave me a headache!
I had to leave halfway after Mrs Seah (my sup) called me in a panic, I had left out two pages of the 40 pages report I had to do. Silly careless me!

Here's a group picture!
We have Robin with us for the first time.
Happy Birthday Celine Darling~!

Top secret ah!

Update: We were warned again today NOT to mention anything about the PSLE marking, even to our own family members, so I gotta rewrite this post. *wriggles fingers*

As everyone knows, marking isn't exactly fun. And this week, we mark from 8am to 5pm! I thank God for the teachers in my team. They are such a fun bunch of people! We spent these 3 days laughing at other teachers and everything under the sun.

Here are some of my favourite moments.

The Cigarette Seller
Yesterday, we nicknamed this teacher 'cigarette seller' because he looks just like one and spent the next hour role-playing (in hokkein) how he would sell cigarettes. Today, we were still laughing at him. Think our students will flip if they hear our silly conversations!

Frisbee Sessions
There are A LOT of male teachers in this centre and from the look of them, they should all be PE teachers. The interesting thing is that since day 1, they gather together to play frisbee during every break. And I found out today that they don't know each other!

Marking @ Palau Tekong
I commented today that MOE should ship us all to a Bintan resort for the 4 days to mark because its so top secret. My team members started giggling and said, "More like ship us to Palau Tekong ah! To some haunted and deserted camp because MOE is soooo niao!"

St. Stephen's Boys
Apparently to teach in St. Stephen's, you must be really really REALLY energetic to run after the boys. The stories I heard make the boys seem like m*******! All the teachers I met can't wait to transfer out from there!

Hair Anniversary day
This higher-up told us that she has a hair anniversary day. Apparently she had really long hair, cut her hair short and noted the date. So we asked when she cut her hair. More than 30 years ago she replied. We all agreed that she was super bo liao.

Names and numbers
Till now I don't know any of my team members' names. Yes we have hung out with each other for 9 hours for the past 3 days. As you can tell, we have been addressing each other by our marker codes. What has MOE done to us!

Korean Gathering At Jennifer's house

I'm upset. My phone's camera is spoilt. :(
We had a gathering at Jennifer's house today, wanted to take some pics but couldn't. Ahhh...

Well we had a great night out! Jennifer's condo, Bishan Point, was lovely. We had our dinner at the BBQ pit beside the pool.
The main dish was 삼겹살(sam kyorp sal) which is grilled pork bacon eaten with garlic, dipped in bean paste and wrapped with fresh lettuce. Yum~ 맛있다~
Jennifer also prepared some korean dishes like 잡채(jap chae-my fave!), rice cake in chilli sauce, chestnut jelly, and she made her own 김치(kimchi)which was delicious! Gotta learn from her how to make it!
Also had my first korean beer today, Hite . It was light and tasty, I liked it!

선생님 and Jennifer gave me really useful information on shopping and sight seeing in Seoul! And 선생님 was telling me, the university students have their winter vacation the period I'm in Seoul so if I'm lucky, I can get a free guide to bring me around. Wow!

Tithing

After Pastor Kong's 30th September sermon on tithing and reading Malachi, I decided to tithe my October salary which is a first time for me. For civil servants, our pay comes in on the 12th. So between the 30th September and 12th October, which is today the day I actually tithed, some amazing things happened.

I got an income tax refund! The refund is actually slightly more than my tithe. Why is this amazing?
Two months back, I was really annoyed I had to pay more income tax then my friends who are earning more. This is because I stay in landed property and am not entitled to rebates. But hey, the house don't belong to me right? So I called up IRAS twice and tried my best to fight for rebates but failed both times.
And then two days ago, suddenly out from no where, I got a letter from IRAS about the refund!

I was really blessed today. My colleagues and I went to Pengarang for a seafood lunch because school ended early today. The weather was really good when we were there and after we got on the boat back home, it then started raining. I also made it on time to my cell group meeting because I got two lifts from Gerald and my mum. And then after CGM, Jaslin sent Merf, Jiahui, me and Wendy home! How nice is that?

And then hor today, I was running late for school but I just wanted to do my tithing with e-nets before I leave home. So I was hoping that I won't be late. In the end, I WAS late, but guess what? When I reached school, the gate was still opened! At 7.35am! Usually the gates closes at 7.30a.m. sharp.

Wow wow wow! What can I say? I don't think all these are mere coincidences. Like what Wendy said, GOD IS GOOD!

Boy am I a compulsive procastinator~

*heh heh *
Just came home. Went to play pool after service today...the teachers in my CG all had work to do BUT we still went out to play. I'm not alone!!!!!! *HEH HEH HEH*

I realised how bad I am at pool today. Mingkai is REALLIE good! *wipes sweat* Jiahui is second best after MK, Kaixin complains alot but is not bad also wo! BUT I'm not last, last place goes to Eunice~ *MUHAHAHA* Think she'll box me if she reads this! Ssssh don't tell her!

Oh yeah and I went for make-up cell today, what an experience it was! Thank you Ben for going with me! I must say, I 100 times prefer my own CGM under Wendy! That reminds me, next Friday after lunch at M'sia, must quickly return back to SG for CGM~!

Meraprime gathering and TKD lesson 2

Met up with the korean study group today, it was good to see them!~

We had a potluck at Poh Yin's condo, Meraprime. Her condo is beautiful! We had a brillant view of Singapore from the 36th storey. Later on, it was really relaxing chatting at the pool area too. Her condo is just behind Tiong Bahru Plaza. Sooo convenient!

I had my second TKD lesson today. We learnt to do the basic pattern today...block punch turn... block punch turn... Sooo fun! Muhahaha~

Kids Talk

Yesterday for art, I got my kids to write and design notes to wish their friends all the best for their exams.

So I wrote one as an example, and I addressed the note to the teacher next class, Miss Chan.

"Dear Miss Chan... All the best for your exams. Study hard! Love, Miss Kan"

A few kids started snorting loudly and giggling to themselves.
I was of course bewildered and asked, "What?!"
My monitor, Yu Qian, managed to splutter between her snorts, "Miss Chan so old liao still got exams meh??"
Then the whole class went "ORRRR HORRRRR!!!!!! You said Miss Chan OLD!!!!!!!"

Haha...

People are always telling me I'm one of the few teachers they know who truly enjoys teaching because of the kids.
I think its really easy to love the kids? They're so innocent, so honest, so sweet, so likeable~!

When my kids saw my bruised arm, they gasped in horror.
"Miss Kan!!! Why your arm black black?? What happened???! You knocked yourself? Someone beat you? Got into an accident? Scalded yourself? Something fell on you?"
"No no." I replied. "I donated blood."
There was silence.
"You WHAT??" Asked the kids.
After I spent 10 minutes explaining to them what a blood bank is and why I donated blood, one boy asked me, "didn't your mummy scold you?" *lol*

This is a note I got from Tiaan, my South African boy today.

Hehehe... Athough he makes me angry quite often, I think he's the best too!

So sweet hor~~~~~~♥♥♥

Ice Cream Chefs

I do so love desserts, specially ice creams.

I've seen the long queues outside Ice Cream Chefs, I've heard from GML how her colleagues will drive down from Raffles Place during lunch just for ice cream here. When I bit into my first mouthful of ice cream, I was kinda disappointed.

Don't get me wrong, it's not that its no good. It is still pretty exciting to be able to mix different flavours of ice cream together with toppings of your own choice.

I had horlicks, chocolates and hersheys and beanie vanilla mixed with oreo cookies. Here is a picture:

Personally I prefer Haagen Daaz, Ben and Jerry's or even Scoops. Just prefer the texture of their ice cream.

Honouring my dad

Don't be mistakened, I'm not trying to pay tribute to my dad on children's day.

I'm just SO freaking pissed with him now.

As most people know, my parents are divorced. I have not seen or heard from my dad in years. He remarried shortly after his divorce and has 3 young children with his new wife.

And then yesterday can call me and instruct me to visit him in hospital. Ok the conversation went like this.

Him: Hello?
Me: Dad?
Him: Yes its daddy. Hey I'm in SGH now. Low platelet count like the other time (years ago).
Me: Ok.
*silence*
Him: Come visit me tomorrow, with your sis. I've got something to tell you (about his new wife).
Me: ............................ok............. (Ahh.. I wish I can say NO to him. But the bible and church teaches us to honour our parents. Obedient I will be then. )

Today got another sms from him: Buy chicken rice for me if you can.
And then 10 minutes later: Obviously none of my family members know I'm in SGH.

Like duh, who he thinks he is? WHICH family member? His new family that he is abandoning? Or the family he grew up with but disowned him because of the divorce?

I've to bear these things in mind later when I visit him.
1) Keep peace. Walk away if I get mad.
2) Listen but don't comment/advise/opinate. Just keep my mouth shut to avoid quarrels.

Update:

OK I'm back.
Things were almost what I expected.
We entered the room, and saw a strange woman there. Turned out she's the new woman in his life. So he's in the process of divorcing his current wife. I asked what's gonna happen to his 3 kids, and he couldn't answer.

What I didn't expect, he made a will, and made me the sole administrator.
I haven't seen my dad for years and now I'm holding the original copy of his will. Sure feels weird... He hasn't met me for years, how would he know I grew up sane? How would he know I wouldn't sell his flat for $2? I'm some sort a stranger to him now right? But then again, who else can he give the rights to? He fell out with everyone else. The follies a man make.... *Sigh*
One thing to do, I gotta persuade my dad to create a trust for the kids to take care of their needs. Don't know how I'm gonna do this!

Blood Donation No. 3

It sure feels good to donate blood, saving a life and everything, but I'm thinking this will be the last time I'll do so.

I think I'm not suitable to be a blood donor for a few reasons.

1) This is my third time donating and everytime I'll feel faint and nauseous after giving blood.
2) I always have big bruising around the needle hole. The nurses always find it hard to secure my vein. This time there's a bump around the needle hole and boy is it aching!
3) The nurses always have to massage my vein to fill the entire packet with blood. My blood just stops flowing after half a packet.
Check out Nicole's needle-hole. So nice and clean.

And my bruised one! It actually looks more swollen in life.

Taekwondo- Lesson 1

Surprise, surprise, I totally enjoyed the lesson!

We did stretching and learnt basic kicks and punches today.
We had really personalised coaching, 3 instructors to the 3 of us. Bonus, our instructors were kinda cute! *lol*

I thought it would be an easy session but was perspiring like mad after just 10 minutes. Now my thighs hurt whenever I go down steps.

I sooo lack exercise.

Instructor: "Now, push your legs apart and put your hands on the floor."
Me: "OWWWWWwwwwwwwwww..."

Instructor: "Up now and down on the other leg."
Me: *loses balance and fell on bum*
Instructor: *um chio* "Long time never exercise is like that one!"

Well, I'll be stretching and practising the movements daily till my next lesson!

Some commands to remember:
차렷- attention
경례- bow
준비ready
쉬어-at ease

To pig not not to pig?

It's Children's Day on Monday! We had the celebration today.

Every year for Children's Day, my school does a drama for the kids.
The script is always written by Abdullah, who is a super funny colleague.
This year's title is 'To pig or not to pig?'

We had 4 weird pigs, Hansel and Gretel who ate up their stepmother, the witch's house and the witch too, the evil witch and her talkative and show-off mirror, and an irritating Goldielocks who was high on sugar. I was Gretel.

It went well, considering that we only had 5 practices. Will put up the pics after I get them!

I blew over $100 for this Children's Day.

Gave each of my P1 darlings:
1) a goodie bag with snacks and sweets
2) a cup of ice cream
3) a highlighter
4) a beautiful hand-made bookmark with their names on

My P6 class got snicker bars. I bet they whined about it. :P
Wasn't there to hear them though.

And then there are the few special kids. They are special because I really really like them.
I don't teach any of them this year. I got the boys Famous Amos cookies and the girls gloomy bear stuffed toys.

There is Clara who's Dutch and is every teacher's dream student. There's Town whom is just as wonderful, she took great care of me in Bangkok. Game who is matured and obedient even though he's alone in Singapore. I've Jae Hun from Korea who is soooo charming at his age. And Tent who is Weilin's favourite, for his killer good-looks (Weilin's exact words). *lol* And Pinghua whom I enjoyed having in my class last year, made me laugh so often with his jokes!

And I'll end the post with...

MONDAY IS A HOLIDAY FOR ME!!!!!!!!! WOOOHOOO~

Hosanna

We sang Hosanna (in the highest) in church today. I first sang this song at FCBC, and it really touched me. So I was really happy to sing this song at CHC today! *beams*

Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like you have loved me

Break my heart for what breaks yours
Everything I am for your kingdom's cause
As I walk from earth into eternity

Hosanna Hosanna
Hosanna in the highest...

Thanks Merf for the song! :D

I'm in looove...

...with the Tiramisu Parfait from Waraku Pasta.
I can't stop thinking about it!!!!!!

Parfait is perfect in French.
This parfait, in my opinion, is absolutely perfect.
I would skip the main course for 3 parfaits~~

UPDATE:
Am tempted to change my blog address to www.tiramisuparfaitsforever.blogspot and fill the page with tiramisu parfait writeups but I shall not be silly and will control myself.

Underdog

Watched Underdog today. It was super lame but I still loved it for two reasons:

1) I've always liked beagles, and this beagle is super cute!

2) The villians, Dr Simon and Cad, are funny!

There's no need to fear, Underdog is here!

Boy is the video loooonnngggg! We were all sweating hard after the workout.

The pupils grumbled... the teacher grumbled (maybe even louder)...

And the teacher is still grumbling now.....

Cheesecake Café

I convinced Weilin to go with me to the Cheesecake café after her training today.
They have a big variety of cheesecakes which are really delicious! My favourite is the Vanilla Chocolate Chip Cheesecake, which wasn't available this week. Here are some pictures.

The inside of the café.
You get dimmed lightings, nice comfy sofas, the tranquil sound of a waterfall....

Weilin ordered nachos and a strawberry Oreo cheesecake, and I had a rum and raisin. The food is half finished because I was late and she started eating first!

My giantic ice chocolate float. My diet is totally totally ruined.... *sob*

And us!

I'm a little gingerbread man

One of my darling students, Hugo, handed me his transport scrapbook, pointed to the cover which had a little gingerbread man drawn on it, and said solemnly, "This is you."

<--- I didn't know I looked like that!

Changes, Settler's Cafe and the Holy Spirit

I'm hooked to blogging! Never thought this would happen~! Things really do change with time... maybe it has to do with me becoming a child of God too.

I noted these differences about myself:
1) I'm a happier person. Life isn't that bad.
2) I no longer am obsessed with designer bags. I've more important uses for my money.
3) I think about saving.
4) I have a small crush on a guy. This is big because I haven't felt something for anyone for years. Haha!
5) I am more concerned about the people around me. It's not just 'me, me and me' anymore.

After lunch today, my fun-loving cell group went to the Settler's Cafe for games. It was hilarious as usual, and Jiahui won the title of 'Miss Ugly' because she was so good at the game 'Ugly Dolls'. I secretly liked the last game best, the game they found too slow. :-X

I had my 4th Bible Studies lesson with Wendy today. I wanna give special thanks to her, she has been so kind, so patient with us. She prayed for us (me and my fellow BS Elementary 1 classmate Mingkai) to receive the gift of tongue after bible studies. This tongue thing really bewilders me. I do feel something sometimes, especially when other people are speaking in tongue, but when I say it out, it sounds and feels like gibberish to me, then I'll wonder if it's me or AM I really speaking in tongue? *Shrugs*
Maybe Mingkai will make some progress (afterall he has Eunice, who is in BS Advance 100000) and then explain to me. *LOL*

Wushu Show

This evening, my sister and I accompanied my mum to the National Wushu Display 2007 at the Indoor Stadium. She learns Taiji so she makes it a point to go for this every year.

There were performances by other countries like the USA, Russia, China, India, Malaysia...they were fantastic. I think the Chinese are just amazing!

The opening performance.
This lion dance troupe came in first in this year's National Lion Dance Competition. They were goooood!

"Tao Nan Quan"
Yes, Tao Nan School has their own gong fu.
The P3s and 4s all do this for PE.

Alot of the performers did gravity defying acts like this.
Reminds me of a tick flying through the air... :P

3 of the hundred taiji performances we saw.

This Shaolin monk balancing on 2 fingers. And he is only ten!

We went for wings and fries and beer at Brewerkz after the show. Yum! I just love the buffalo wings with blue cheese dip!

Horse voiced

I lost my voice. Struggled to talk the entire day.

Took a cab with Weilin and the cab driver asked her (after I got off) if my voice is 'naturally like that'. *mad*

Acid Reflux

Learnt a new medical term through experience today-acid reflux, also known as heartburn.

On Tuesday 1.50am, I woke up with severe tightness to my chest and upper abdomen. I took two panadols hoping that it'd go away, but the pain just worsened. At that moment, I thought I might be having a heart attack.
So I woke my mum up and she sent me to hospital.

At the hospital, I missed Meliza. "How come!!?", you'd ask.
Well, the last time I was in hospital for stomach flu, Meliza was with me... and boy was she efficient. She queued quickly for me and got me the things I wanted immediately. I wanted a blanket I got a blanket. I wanted a drink I got my drink.

This time, my mother didn't know she had to register me and I waited in pain for 15 minutes before my mum went to ask someone and realised her mistake. I wanted a blanket and my mum nearly drove home for a blanket after scolding me for not bringing one along.
*Sigh* I know I know... I should be grateful that she drove me to hospital. But still...

So the doctor diagnosed me with acid reflux. It is a condition in which the liquid content of the stomach regurgitates (backs up, or refluxes) into the esophagus.
So when I was sleeping, my stomach juices went into my chest, causing the chest pain.

I had an ECG done, was given Antacid, and was observed for an hour. I got better and so could go home, and was given an appointment to see a specialist this Friday.

Well what caused it?
I did some research and think my diet did. I had skipped lunch and then had a heavy dinner of pizza and milk. So my stomach juices went into overtime. And then it didn't help that I slept 3 hours after my big meal.

It was a truly unpleasant feeling. I learnt that GML and my colleague Leanne have heartburn too, and gotta watch their diet carefully. Well, I'd take care not to have this happen to me again!

JB Jusco and Seafood Trip!

Still feeling hyper from the trip!

Basically, we did two things in JB :
1) Shopping at Jusco Tebrau City
2) Had seafood dinner at Taman Sentosa

I returned back to Singapore with 6 bottles of chewing gum, transformers and Snow Queen (korean serial)DVDs , 4 packets of eye masks from elianto (12 pairs each packet), 1 big box of tau sa piah, 2 big jars of green tea leaves and 1 jar of rose buds. All these for 200RM! What a steal!

Here are some pictures we took:

The stars for the day, Taka and his super kawaii girlfriend Hiromi!

All of us!

Girlies~

Dinner was super delicious! We went to a restaurant recommended by Jason san and had prawns, fish, clams, eggs, veggies and frog legs... paid 35RM each. Cheapest seafood dinner I ever had! And then after dinner, we went for durian, and Hiromi loved it so much she bought durian back for her family!

The highlight of the day for me has to be the visit to the ah beng *achem* DVD shop. It was an experience man, superbly ah beng and *achem*... loved it!

In this posting, I've to give special thanks to Jiahui, Eunice, and Kaixing for helping me to bring back my chewing gum for me. And Ben for the DVDs. Doomo arigatou to you all!

Yet another Karaoke session!

My motto for this week: To play to the max!

Yeah its the September hols...
My friends' MC rates have been found to be positively linked to the school holidays.
And my playmate for the day is........*drumroll*... ah nia!

After her work, we went to Parkway Parade to hang out.
Why do I like Parkway so much? Here are 10 reasons:

1) It's near home (at least for me :P).
2) It's not as crowded as town.
3) They have good fashion shops-Topshop, Dorothy Perkins, Mango, GG>5, Adidas, Nike etc.
4)There is Isetan for our cosmetic and assessories needs.
5) K-box is across the road and this K-box offers big discounts for members.
6) There is Ichiban Boshi on the 3rd floor. Their food is good value for money.
7) There is Crystal Jade at the basement (the staff there recognise me now and knows I love their ice red bean dessert).
8) There is a Scoops ice-cream shop at the basement. I can never decide which flavour to have, is it the jackfruit, coconut, green tea or durian!!!?
9) There is Minitoons and Chamelon for you to buy pretty and useless things.
10) MPH and Pacific Coffee went but Borders and Dome are coming!

As usual, we found a whole load of things to buy.

Weilin bought this really pretty starry pressed powder from Kosé.

And I helped my mum to buy the Skinfood's Carrot Collagen Eye sheet. According to my colleague Elvenia, alot of her friends swear by it. It's supposed to reduce puffiness.
It's always out of stock, so my kiasu mother asked me to buy 20 sheets for her.

And then after shopping, the night was still young. So what did we do? Of course we crossed the road and went over to K-box! Here are some pictures:
